Safe Places runs two centres. They do different jobs, and knowing which is which saves a wasted journey: consultations and out-patient care happen in Kampala; residential treatment happens outside Kampala.

Kyambogo — out-patient centre

Consultations, assessments, out-patient appointments, screening, and several support groups all run here. Most people’s contact with Safe Places starts here, and the centre sits in a quiet residential part of Kyambogo rather than on a busy commercial street.

Bujjuko — residential centre

Residential treatment for addictions, medical detoxification and psychiatric admission happen here, in a setting deliberately removed from the noise of the city. The distance is part of the treatment environment: clients live with quiet, space, and routine, in single or shared rooms, with regular meals and days built around therapy and rest.

Admission
You can call at any hour, any day — the phone is answered around the clock.

Which centre will I attend?

If you are booking a consultation or assessment, Kyambogo. Whether Bujjuko enters the picture depends on what the assessment recommends; residential admission is a clinical decision made with you, not a default. Many people are treated entirely at Kyambogo and never see the residential centre.

Getting here

Both centres are reached most simply by asking us for directions when you book; call +256 770 700944. You can call at any hour, any day. The Bujjuko centre is open every day of the year and admits patients at any hour, once assessment points to residential care. If you are travelling from outside Uganda, airport pick-up can be arranged. Inland transport for admissions or appointments is available at a cost. If you cannot travel at all, mention it when you call and we will talk through the options.
